Highlights
In January Fairbanks observed a mean monthly temperature of -6.5°F, 1.4°F above the -7.9°F normal. The highest temperature for the month was 31°F occurring on the 15th, while the coldest was -43°F occurring on both the 26th and 27th.
Precipitation was light, with only 0.15" observed, 0.43" below the expected 0.58" normal. Similarly snowfall was only 55% of normal, with 4.6" of snowfall observed, compared to the 10.3" expected. Mean snow depth however was closer to normal, with 11" measured or 73% of normal.
