King Salmon June 2015

King Salmon’s monthly mean temperature of 56.4°F was 4.9°F above normal. This is the warmest June on record for King Salmon, breaking the old record of 55.3°F from just two years ago. The lowest temperature for the month occurred on the 8th at 40°F, while the highest, 86°F, occurred on the 15th and 16th, both new records. A total of six record daily highs helped to set the new monthly record. First, the 14th hit 82°F, breaking the 1969 record of 80°F. Then the 15th reached 86°F, breaking the 1936 record of 84°F. The next day 86°F was hit again, topping the 84°F also from 1936. The following day the 85°F broke the 82°F from 1962. The high of 77°F on the 19th just topped the 76°F from 2007. Four days later the 75°F tied the 1997 record.

Precipitation was lighter than normal, with 0.84” for the month measured, nearly half of the long-term normal of 1.65”. The average wind speed was 7.8 mph, while the highest wind speed was 34 mph on the 10th blowing from a southwesterly direction.
